Don’t Ever Stop

In honor of What I Ate Wednesday, here are some shots of what I’ve been lucky enough to nibble on inhale.

Layered salads delicately decorated in feta, avocado, roma tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, grilled chicken, flakey salmon, crunchy pita chips, and tossed in a silky vinaigrette.

Belly Dancer Salad

Compliments of the talented chefs at Basil, I dove into the salad above for dinner tonight. It’s coined the Belly Dancer. Perhaps it’s a salad fit for dancers. The artfully tossed dish certainly left me in the mood to dance.

Maybe I spoke too soon. Don’t judge a leave by it’s cover. These guys taste like buttery hunks of spiced rice.

You can learn a lot from shooting pictures of food, like the more you’re around it, the more you want it. And it’s always sinful to skip dessert.

There were bites of tiramisu yesterday and baklava today. You know my sweet tooth can’t be tamed.

Layers of crispy fillo dough and sweetened pistachios. Irresistible.

I have one hell of a sweet tooth, but I’ll take that over a lot of other things.

Thank goodness for that gym flo and constantly challenging myself.

I’m embracing the handstand journey just as I’ll continue trying to make grape leaves look mouth watering in photos. Persistence is the name of my game.

Balance it Out a Bit

It’s almost time for the weekend, and I’m lucky to be home again visiting my parents. I got in yesterday afternoon in time to meet my mom for a bite at our favorite local grocery store in the west end.

You know she wasn’t the only one. I always enjoy perusing and sampling the aisles of health food stores.

I tried to talk her into an exotic tofu wrap, but she wasn’t having it, so we sat down to feast on a curry chicken salad wrap.

After a fun evening last night, I hit the gym this morning for Body Flow (a combination of Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates) and Ultimate Fitness (an ACAC class taught by Vicki that kicks your butt).

I be up in the gym just workin’ on my fitness, you’re my witness.

I like combining hard physical workouts with challenging mental workouts. Body Flow allowed me time today to check in, pause and practice mindfulness.

Even though I love an intense sweaty workout, I always try to leave time for meditation, savasana and being a child, or sitting like one anyway.

When my mind races in a flexibility class, I attempt to reach for more rigorous poses, like crow.

It’s important to always balance out our exercise routines.

After a re-energizing workout, I met my mom for lunch at Caffe Espresso.

We didn’t have any fun. 😉

My mother is a fan of consistency, so we went with our favorite Genovese panini, a freshly baked focaccia filled with oven roasted turkey, pesto and provolone, served with a side of sea salt chips.

Late Monday Marvelous

They say gratitude is a major key to happiness, so on the first day of the week, I like to start out with the positives and link up with Marvelous Monday.
